General Education Credit Transfer and Recognition

Recognition of General Education Credits for Double Majors, Minors, and Credit Programs

  • 01 Recognition Principle

    Students may apply to have courses taken as part of their double major, minor, or credit program recognized as General Education credits in either the Common General or College categories; however, these cannot be recognized as Core General Education credits. Recognition must follow the General Education domain categories approved by the curriculum unit and the General Education domain committee.

  • 02 Eligibility

    Students who have completed at least two-thirds of the required credits for their double major or minor, or who have completed credit programs approved according to the University’s Credit Program Establishment Guidelines.

  • 03 Credit Limits:

    • Up to 9 credits can be recognized from double major courses.
    • Up to 6 credits per minor, with a combined maximum of 9 credits for two minors.
    • Up to 3 credits from credit programs.
    • The total recognized credits from the above categories cannot exceed 9 credits.
  • 04 Application Procedure

    • For double majors and minors: Submit the application form to the General Education Center within the application period.
    • For credit programs: Obtain a signature from the credit program office on the application form, then submit it to the General Education Center within the application period.
  • 05 Application Deadline

    Applications must be submitted during the intended graduation semester.

    • For the fall semester, the deadline is December 30.
    • For the spring semester, the deadline is May 30.
  • 06 Important Notes

    • Once approved and recorded, no further changes to recognized courses will be allowed.
    • If the courses for which recognition is applied are being taken in the current semester, recognition will only be effective after passing the course.
