General Education Credit Transfer and Recognition

New and transfer students shall apply for credit transfer within the timeframe announced by the University during their first academic year.
Major courses are reviewed by the department to which the student is admitted; Chinese General Education courses by the Department of Chinese Literature; Foreign Language General Education Courses by the Center of Foreign Language; Common General Education and College Education Courses by the Center of General Education; Physical Education Courses by the Office of Physical Education; and courses within the Teacher Education Program by the Institute of Teacher Education.

Transfer Students and First-Year Entrants of All Programs

• Transfer students admitted to the second semester of the first year in an undergraduate program may transfer up to 20 credits.

• Transfer students admitted to the second year (including students transferring from universities within the Taiwan University System) may transfer up to 40 credits.

• Transfer students admitted to the third year (including students transferring from universities within the Taiwan University System) may transfer up to 80 credits.

• In special circumstances, departments may apply for exemptions from these credit transfer limits on a case-by-case basis.

• Principles for Syllabus Review:

1. Courses with identical titles and content. 
2. Courses with different titles but identical content. 
3. Courses with different titles and content but of the same nature.

• Principles for Determining Transferable Credits:

• When transferring a course with more credits to a course with fewer credits, the course will be recorded with the lower credit value.
• When transferring a course with fewer credits to a course with more credits, the transfer will not be approved, unless the student completes the additional required credits through designated courses assigned by the department or relevant academic units. After completion, the transfer will then be recorded with the lower credit value.

Applications must be submitted according to the schedule specified in the University Academic Calendar.

Applications submitted after the deadline will not be accepted unless special approval is granted through official procedures.
