Course Subsidies
Subsidies for Common General Cours
To encourage instructors to teach and improve general education courses, broaden students’ perspectives, and enhance awareness and social engagement in life education, humanistic care, and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the Center for General Education provides financial support for courses.
Eligible Courses:
Common General Education Courses (excluding Core General Education and lecture-type courses) and College General Education Courses (including self-directed learning course).
Subsidy Principles:
(a) Courses related to life education, humanistic care, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and social participation are eligible for a speaker activity subsidy of NT$4,500 per course each semester.
(b) For courses meeting the criteria in (a) with enrollment of 50 or more students, a operational expense subsidy of NT$1,500 per credit per semester will be provided (e.g., NT$3,000 for 2-credit courses, NT$4,500 for 3-credit courses). To promote the incorporation of practical training into courses and to strengthen connections with industry, this subsidy may be reallocated to cover the aforementioned speaker activity fees
(c) Applicants may not apply for this subsidy simultaneously with other funding from the Office of Academic Affairs.
Application Period:
From the start of the semester until the end of the semester. For specific dates, please refer to the updated subsidy application form each semester. Once the allocated budget is fully used, the Center reserves the right to stop accepting applications.
Application Procedure and Review:
Complete the general education course funding application form and submit it to the Center for General Education for review.
Description of Subsidy Items:
(a) According to National Chengchi University’s regulations on expenditure, the speaker fee for external speakers is capped at NT$4,500 per session. For speakers from the University, the fee is capped at NT$1,600 per session.
(b) Expert attendance fees (limited to external experts) are capped at NT$2,500 per person.
(c) Operational expenses:
- Student prize subsidies are capped at NT$500 per person; reimbursement requires attaching scoring criteria and a signed winner list.
- Printing costs are capped at NT$1,000.
- Other related expenses
The following are not eligible for subsidy: personal use or teaching-related information equipment and books.
(d) Receipts or official invoices must clearly state the purchaser (National Chengchi University or the University’s tax ID 03807654), date, item name, quantity, unit price, and total price, or be accompanied by a detailed signed statement from the handler. Item name, quantity, unit price, and total price may also be supported by related lists. Other funding execution standards follow Ministry of Education and university regulations.
(e) After each activity, all legal expense documents must be submitted for reimbursement by the 5th of the following month (see Attachment 2 in the application instructions).
(f) The deadline for reimbursement follows the Accounting Office regulations; for activities in December, documents must be submitted to the Center for General Education by December 20.
Effectiveness Evaluation:
(a) Instructors are required to submit an activity outcome report or performance explanation after the course concludes for record-keeping purposes (see Attachment 3 in the application instructions).
(b) Self-directed learning courses shall participate in the end-of-term exhibition organized by the Center for General Education Submitted works (assignments) will be authorized for use by the University for course promotion and related teaching administration purposes.
(c) Courses receiving subsidies must cooperate with the Office of Academic Affairs for outcome presentations.
